About us

First Place Athletics was started in 1990 in Huntsville, AL by the current owner, Mike Allen.  He noticed the need for a specialty running and swimming location that had the expertise to give customers the service they wanted.

Today, First Place Athletics is well known in the Southeast for our ability to get customers in the right shoe.  That is why many doctors send their patients to see us.  We not only can get you in the proper shoe, but we can also give helpful hints to stop those nagging aches and pains.

We want to help promote running and swimming in the Southeast.  That is why we are very active in sponsoring, participating, and volunteering in local events.
